Pedestal mounted, hydraulic powered box boom positioner. Heavy duty marine environment design for marine based applications. Standard use of high quality, common and easily repaired materials and components. Designed and manufactured to meet or exceed a.p.i. - 2c specification latest edition and specific requirements set forth by the U.S. Dept. Of the Interior, Minerals Management Service.

Telescopic boom
The boom design is a 2-stage square tube box type and is constructed of astm a-500, gr. B (min.) High strength steel.
10 foot retracted length – 17 foot extended length

Boom crowding
4” diameter hydraulic cylinder with chrome plated rod, bolt-on rod end cap, and lock-check/counter balance valve. Heavy duty piston seals are standard.

Boom luffing
7” diameter hydraulic cylinder with chrome plated rod, bolt-on rod end cap, and lock-check/counter balance valve. Heavy duty piston seals are standard.

Hydraulic power unit
The standard hydraulic power supply is provided by the Rogers oil tool drill pipe tong hpu. The Rogers HTP4-17 tong positioner requires 10 gpm @ 2500 psi.

Upperstructure
The main rotating base (mainframe) is heavy duty, all welded steel construction with machined base plate (+- .004) for mounting the swing circle bearing and swing drive gear box. Supporting structure is symmetrical in design with localized concentration of high stress areas avoided. Standard astm a-36 steel plate (or equal) is employed and is tested to astm a-578 level ii quality and astm a770 for resistance to lamellar tearing.

Swing circle assembly
“bolt-on” shear ball or cross roller bearing with grade 8 mounting bolts is standard. 300,000 ft./lb. Nominal rating provides for design service factor of over 5 including fasteners. Bearing steel exceeds requirements of astm specification a-295 and conforms to astm e45 method a in cleanliness. Hydraulically driven planetary swing drive provides 180 degree smooth rotation. Automatic swing parking brake is standard.

Corrosion protection system
Traditional three (3) coat marine paint system. Weldments are blasted to near white finish. An inorganic zinc primer, hi-build epoxy polyamide aluminummastic intermediate coat, and a polyurethane finish coat is applied. All hydraulic fittings / adapters and fasteners are zinc or cadmium plated. Pins are stainless steel and lifting eyes are provided on all major components.

Pedestal
Astm a-36 (or equal) flange mounting machined to +/- .004”
24” diameter by 70.5” high with 45 or 30 degree weld bevel.
